Mark Kelsic grew up in CO playing soccer and baseball like most kids do, but his craving for air and danger
led him into sports like skateboarding, rollerblading, and BMX. These were the skills that gave him the
confidence to attack snowboarding at age 10. Mark's progression accelerated in snowboarding and soon he
was slaying gnarly urban features with huge consequences!
School was always a factor that prevented Mark from focusing on his riding. Majoring in Chemical
Engineering at CU Boulder absorbed much of his snowboarding time, but there was a hidden bonus, the CU
Snowboard Team. Mark spent 3+ years with the CUST and credits riders like Pat A and Raul Pinto for
inspiring him and teaching him the ways.
Pretty soon, it became obvious to Mark that he was a soul shredder, someone who wanted to follow the
snow, and ride as much as possible. Like many pre-rockstars do, Mark headed up to Mt. Hood to work and
shred at Windells. He started as a camper for 2 years, became an coach there for 4 years and has power
shredded Mt. Hood with Meg Pugh for the last few summers.
Some of Mark's recent accomplishments include getting 1st in slopestyle and 2nd in his debut halfpipe
contest at the Burton Pro-test in Killington and winning the AM Throwdown last season at Copper Mountain.
Mark is focused on becoming the most creative, consistent, diverse and powerful rider alive. I know his drive
and talent will push him to succeed and he has already started proving himself by creating new tricks, and
throwing uncommon grabs and combinations. Mark's exciting riding has unleashed a fresh side of
snowboarding that everyone will enjoy.
